WDCF Fundraising Events
WDCF’s biggest annual fundraising event is the Westchase District Corporate Challenge. This “field day for adults” brings together employees of Westchase District businesses for a day of networking, light athletics and fun, with all proceeds going to the Westchase District Community Fund. After a two-year COVID-related hiatus, the Corporate Challenge will return on Friday, October 14. In its 23-year history, the Corporate Challenge has generated almost $300,000 for the WDCF and area charities.
In recent years, WDCF has also hosted a legislative breakfast featuring local elected officials discussing a recent legislative session, an upcoming legislative session or taking an in-depth look at an issue being addressed by our State lawmakers. Some of our guest speakers have included State Senators Paul Bettencourt and Joan Huffman, State Representative Jim Murphy and Superintendents HD Chambers (Alief ISD) and Scott Muri (Spring Branch ISD.) This sponsored fundraising breakfast adds to the coffers of the WDCF so that it can offer financial support throughout the community.
In 2019, the WDCF led the effort to bring in sponsorships for the Library Loop Trail. Donations by area businesses and individuals resulted in amenities being added to the trail, including benches, trees and water fountains. More recently, the WDCF led the the Greenspace for Westchase initiative to raise money for the future Wilcrest Park. The WDCF’s campaign brought in $3.2 million in gifts to close the gap on funding for Wilcrest Park, which will break ground in the summer of 2022.
